Tonight at Another Vacant Space Ian Hunter of Littoral Arts – a UK based non-proffit arts organisation – will present a seminar of Kurt Schwitters and information regarding a new residency in relation to the Elterwater Merz Barn project.
From Another Vacant Space:
Artists, architects and curators rethink the Merzbauten projects; what is to be the critical and artistic legacy of Kurt Schwitters in the 21st century?
Artists’ proposals for an international Kurt Schwitters Contemporary Art Gallery and Merzbau Museum; why is there no international memorial to Schwitters and the other Entartete Kunstlers denounced by the Nazis in 1937?; The future of the Merz Barn project in England and information about a Kurt Schwitters residential programme for international artists at the Merz Barn in the Lake District England.
This seminar includes dialogues addressed on ‘de-institutionalizing’ the future critical and creative legacies of Kurt Schwitters, etc. “Schwitters belongs to us artists!”
A seminar for artists, architects, art historians and curators interested in new projects about Kurt Schwitters and the Merzbau projects (1923 – 1948).
