transmediale 2013 (BWPWAP) Events Listing

Back when Pluto was a planet, cellphones didn’t fit into your pocket, and the internet was a joke on Seinfeld… How long ago was that? In preparation of the transmediale 2013 and in lieu of seeing the future, we’ve created a go-to guide of the festival’s events, screenings, performances, and presentations which stand out for us. Focusing on the relations between technology, art, and society, in the context of rapid technological change, the festival will also host three main exhibitions this year, Evil Media Distribution Centre, Imaging With Machine Processes, and Tools of Distorted Creativity, which can be seen at the HWK. Lastly, you can read our interview with transmediale exhibition curator, Jacob Lillemose, and creative director, Kristoffer Gansing, about the upcoming festival to get as excited as we are for the array of art, video, and ideas coming your way!

Additional Information

transmediale was founded in 1988 as a platform for electronic media falling outside of traditional categories of artistic film. Since 1988, the festival has occurred for a week every February, showcasing current and retrospective artworks, as well as questioning and discussing the interrelations between art, technology, culture, and society though conferences, talks, and workshops. In 2012, transmediale began to function as an open, year-round program for artists, activists, and hackers via reSource, which also offers and organizes workshops and projects.
