Open Call for European Media Artist in Residence Exchange (EMARE)

Oct. 19, 2019

Eleven renowned media arts institutions from across Europe have joined together with the support of EU’s Creative Europe Programme to create European Media Art Platform (EMAP). The platform offers EMARE (European Media Artist in Residence Exchange) residencies for artists working in the field of digital media. The upcoming call is for two-month long residencies in 2020 and 2021, at one of the eleven host media art institutions. Each institution will offer access to its facilities and in-house expertise. The residency supports emerging European media artists to produce new work.

European artists working in the fields of digital media – for example: internet, computer-based arts, sound or video art, media-based performance, and robotics or bio-art – may apply with a project proposal for a residency at one of the following institutions: Ars Electronica (Linz); Onassis Stegi (Athens); Bandits Mages (Bourges); FACT (Liverpool); IMPAKT Centre for Media Culture (Utrecht); Kontejner (Zagreb); LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial (Gijón); M-Cult (Helsinki); RIXC (Riga); WRO Art Center (Wroclaw); and Werkleitz Centre for Media Art (Halle (Saale)).

The residencies are for two months in one of two time frames, either from March to August 2020 or from January to May 2021. Applicants can choose one of the two options or indicate that they are available for both. EMARE includes a grant of 3,000 Euros, a project budget of 4,000 Euros, free accommodation, travel expenses up to 500 Euros, free access to technical facilities and media labs of the host institution, consultation by production and market experts and a professional presentation as well as the option to participate in exhibition tours at our members festivals in 2020–2021.
