Video // Momentum 9 Nordic Biennial of Contemporary Art: Alienation

Video by MONA productions, filmed and edited by Peter Cairns in Moss // Thursday, Aug. 03, 2017

Since the inception of the Momentum Biennial in 1998, the festival has been one of the most exciting platforms for Nordic art and artistic ventures that engage with the Nordic context. The five curators are respectively from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland, but the participating artists are from all over the world. This acknowledgement of global interconnectedness is key to understanding the theme of this year’s biennial, ‘Alienation’.

Interrogating technological, social and environmental alienation in this year’s edition, Momentum 9 invited artists to consider different futures, and envision the aliens we might become. Berlin Art Link Productions spoke to several artists and curators involved in the 2017 Momentum Biennial for this video trailer of some exhibition highlights.
