CTM welcomes Paul Devereux, another leading figure in the field of archaeoacoustics, whose research interests also include studies of ancient and modern consciousness. The third and final lecture of the day will come from Rupert Till, reader in music technology and popular music at University of Huddersfield, UK, whose research bridges electronic dance music culture and sound archaeology.”

Endo 1 // January 31 at YAAM

Soda Plains, Born in Flamez, 18+, E.E.K feat Islam Chipsy (German premiere), Yung Lean & Sad Boys & Gravity Boys, Opium Hum

“For CTM’s second Saturday, YAAM will act as a playground for a massive range of boogie-inspiring forces, from postinternet wave-riders to purist house devotees to fringe, mad-science experimenters. The list of Endo I artists in YAAM’s largest room is a testament to the growing post-gendered, globalist, presence in dance music.”

Tune Out – CTM x RBMA Finale // February 1 at Astra

Nisennenmondai

Rounding out the bill is Tokyo-based trio Nisennenmondai, whose name stems from the Japanese word for “Y2K Bug”. Since 1999, they have been whipping up electrified, up-tempo loops through rock and noise means, inducing spellbinding states of hypnotism. 2014 saw their hyper, raw trance-punk unleashed to full effect on their fourth full-length, N.

TRANSMEDIALE HIT LIST:

Keynote Capture All_Work // conference lecture; 5:30-7:30pm on January 29 at HKW Auditorium

Judy Wacjman
Tiziana Terranova

This keynote lecture promises to deliver an intense and insightful reflection with two talks and a conversation between two established critical theorists, Judy Wacjman and Tiziana Terranova. Wacjman and Terranova will both deliver a lecture and follow with a conversation about the collateral implications the post-digital world have had on labour. They will focus on understanding changing models of the work-life balance and notions of productivity, revealing contemporary manifestations of exploitation and alienation.

Appropriate and Accelerate // conference lecture; 2:30-4:00 pm on January 30 at HKW K1

Robert Sakrowski
Jonas Lund
Jennifer Lyn Morone

Three panelists will discuss the material and form of art works and activity of artistic work in a post-digital age. The panel will reflect on economic-historical development of creativity and creation, genius, and authorship. Jennifer Lynn Morone’s “Jennifer Lynn Morone™ Inc.” is also included as part of the Transmediale exhibition.

EL Camino del Hardcore – DJ Audio $var // performance; 8:00-11:00pm on January 29, 30, and 31 at HKW K2

Goodiepal

A durational installation/performance over three evenings by the charismatic and controversial Danish/Faroese artist and musician Goodiepal.
“The focus in this new installment lies on the way that technological inventions such as the Internet has formalised knowledge and the capability of the human psyche to imagine things beyond this formalisation. In order to reclaim a space of imagination, also in our relation to technology, Goodiepal has for years been engaged in the creation of what he calls “unscannable” objects and practices”

Oriana Persico
Salvatore Iaconesi

In this work, Oriana Persico and Salvatore Iaconesi have created a program that calculates probabilities and forms predictions for the future based on trends, assumptions, and correlations in data harvested from internet activity. This digital oracle is at once an absurd and legitimate representation of the faith and power we have in data and technologies, revealing the chilling resemblance of technological ideology to a “new global data-religion”.
