CREATIVE CAPITAL: Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program – Deadline: June 8, 2011

Designed to encourage and reward writing about contemporary art that is rigorous, passionate, eloquent and precise, as well as to create a broader audience for arts writing, the Arts Writers Grant Program aims to strengthen the field as a whole and to ensure that critical writing remains a valued mode of engaging the visual arts. By honoring a variety of formats including articles, blogs, books, short-form writing projects and new and alternative media, the program addresses a range of contemporary discourse, from general-audience criticism to academic scholarship. Approximately twenty to twenty-five grants are awarded annually, ranging from $3,000 to $50,000 depending on the needs and scope of the project.

Art&Education: Papers Prize ‘No Rules – Negotiating Art and Deregulation’ – Deadline: May 25, 2011

In support of young scholars conducting innovative research in contemporary art, Art&Education is pleased to announce a Call for Papers for its inaugural Papers Prize, which includes a research sum of 2000 USD and the opportunity to present a paper at a conference, organized by Artforum & e-flux co-sponsored by Society of Contemporary Art Historians, on the subject of the deregulation in art practice and history.

Fundación Botín: Visual Arts Grants – Deadline May 6, 2011

Fundación Botín, a Spanish institution created in 1964, has launched an international call for a new edition of the Visual Arts Grants. These are study, research and personal project aids that end up with the organization of an exhibition at the venue of the Foundation in Santander and the edition of a catalogue. The call is open to individuals of any nationality with the single requirement of being between the ages of 23-40 for the study grants.

The Watermill Center: The International Summer Program 2011 in New York – Deadline: March 31

The Watermill Center is currently looking for artists of all disciplines between the ages of 18 and 40 to apply for The 2011 International Summer Program running from July 18 – August 21, 2011 in New York City. The program is looking for emerging and mid-career artists including architects, visual artists, directors, actors, dancers, choreographers, costume/scenic/lighting designers, performance artists, graphic designers, archivists, landscape artists, dramaturgs, and writers.

Schloss Ringenberg: Call for Applications – Deadline: April 15

In July 2009, the State of North Rhine-Westphalia inaugurated a new model for promoting postgraduate curatorial work by offering a programme-based grant.

The grant provides 1,250 EUROS/month in support for each participant for a period of 12 months. The curatorial grant is practice-oriented and tied in with the German-Dutch European project smax. The programme is located at Schloss Ringenberg, in Hamminkeln on the Lower Rhine.

CURATORIAL INTENSIVE: Summer 2011 – deadline March 18, 2011!

The Curatorial Intensive organised by Independent Curators International (ICI) is a one week training program for emerging curators that takes place between July 10-18, 2011 in New York. 10-14 curators from around the world will be selected from an open competition to participate in the next Curatorial Intensive for a rigorous 8-day schedule of workshops, discussions, critiques, and presentations, as well as site visits to local institutions, private collections, and artists’ studios.
