Open Call for Future Generation Art Prize

The Future Generation Art Prize is a biannual global contemporary art prize to discover, recognize and give long-term support to a future generation of artists. Established by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in 2009, the prize supported the artistic development and production of new works of over 100 artists in exhibitions at the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv and as official collateral events at the Venice Biennale in 2011, 2013, 2017 and 2019.

Artists up to 35-years-old may apply through the online open call, without any restrictions concerning gender, nationality, race or artistic medium. Additionally, 300 correspondent art experts from all over the world will nominate a minimum of two and a maximum of five candidates. The experts are curators, artists, critics and tutors at art colleges and academies. All artists apart from former prize winners are eligible to apply multiple times, as long as they continue to fulfill the entry conditions. A selection committee will review the applications and select up to 20 artists for the exhibition.

The main prize winner receives $100,000 USD split between a $60,000 cash prize and a $40,000 investment in their practice. Up to five special prizes are awarded at the discretion of the jury. A total amount of $20,000 USD will be awarded to special prize winners for supporting projects that develop their artistic practice.

An international jury determines the main prize and special prize winners at their meeting in Kyiv during the Future Generation Art Prize exhibition at the PinchukArtCentre. The jury members include: Antonia Carver (Director of Art Jameel in Dubai/Jeddah); Bjorn Geldhof (Artistic Director at the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv); Catherine Nichols (Curator, Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin; 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art); Freya Chou (Curator, Taipei); Marie Helene Pereira (Senior Curator, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin; Artistic Director, RAW Material Company, Dakar); Legacy Russell (Executive Director & Chief Curator of The Kitchen in New York City); and Victoria Noorthoorn (Director of Museo Moderno in Buenos Aires).

Due to numerous requests from artists around the world, the Future Generation Art Prize has extended its open call for the 2027 edition. The new application deadline is July 19th, 2026 (inclusive), giving emerging artists an additional three weeks to complete and submit their applications.
