The Goldrausch Künstlerinnenprojekt has been run by Goldrausch Frauennetzwerk e. V. since 1989. It was founded to counteract the structural discrimination faced by FLINTA artists. Broad professional knowledge and expertise are necessary in order to be successful and visible in the public domain. Therefore it is the objective of the project to promote FLINTA who pursue their chosen career, helping them gain further practical knowledge and presenting their work.
The Goldrausch Künstlerinnenprojekt offers 15 spots per year and runs for 12 months (January to December). The professional development program hosts weekly courses on two fixed days of the week, as well as individual appointments and three to four intensive weeks.
Applicants should be visual artists from all fields, of any age, preferably with a (fine arts) degree or equivalent experience; applicants from all areas. Sufficient German and English language skills are required to follow group discussions, and artists should be based in Berlin.
The course is tailored specifically to meet the objectives of the participants. The participants’ own artistic practice forms the starting point of the training. The course combines practice-oriented learning with various insights into the art world and the continuous training of presentation skills and communication strategies. This includes the design of an individual website, studio talks and and discussions of participants’ work. The curriculum also covers the fundamentals of self-employment, public relations and project planning, and includes the production of a catalogue and a group exhibition. The seminars are led by experienced art historians and cultural scholars. In addition, curators, gallerists and other arts professionals are invited to work with the artists in an open, peer-to-peer exchange. Practical knowledge and professional expertise that can be applied to building a sustainable artistic career are shared and further developed. Understanding the art scene, its actors and their practices, and how networks work is just as important. With over 525 graduates and an ever-growing alumnae network, Goldrausch provides a solid basis for this.
To be considered for the course, you must submit a written application (in German or English). After the deadline, all applications will be reviewed by an external jury of experts. In a two-stage selection process, the jurors will choose 15 participants: first based on the submitted applications, and then through small group interviews. The selection criteria are the high quality of the artistic work and the meaningful way in which the course program complements the applicant’s professional artistic practice.
