Open Call for Contributions to DICE 2021

Aug. 13, 2021

DICE announced an open call for worldwide submissions to the digital program of their 2021 edition, taking place October 25th to 30th. The programming of this Berlin-based music festival and conference aims to elevate vital and innovative voices whose contributions to the artistic field are underrepresented. It showcases interdisciplinary artists who expand the boundaries of artistic practice and stimulate critical dialogue in the broader community.

The upcoming edition will actively explore new structures for remote connection, innovative collaboration, skill-sharing, community-building and intersectional support within the arts. To supplement their existing program, they are looking for additional contributions such as lectures, workshops, presentations, interviews, discussions, audio-visual performances, collaborative documents and more.

DICE 2021 Open Call

The theme of the 2021 edition is ‘Orbital Entities.’ Amid near-constant shifts in the ways we relate to one another, we have learned to exist in a state of suspension, struggling to remain close over distances. We’re searching for a central point to rotate around, whether it be an established community, a shared history or identity, a concept, common interest or influence. In our current reality, we see how the self becomes satellite; to central focal points and to one another, pulled and pushed at the same time. The way this has influenced our creative practices, social lives and the internal landscape feels irreversible. Proposals should have a specific focus that intersects with the concept of ‘Orbital Entities’ and the following topics: artistic & collaborative practice, promotion of artistic work, audio-visual experimentation, collective initiatives/action(s), post-Covid strategies, mental health, accessibility, environmental and financial sustainabilities, fundraising and others. Artist fees will be granted according to the statutory guidelines for artist remuneration. Proposals need to be sent by August 30th, however, early submissions are encouraged.
