Open Call for Pina Bausch Fellowship for Dance and Choreography

Feb. 1, 2022

The Kunststiftung NRW and the Pina Bausch Foundation have announced an open call for the seventh edition of their joint program—the Pina Bausch Fellowship for Dance and Choreography. This year, it will support a wide range of collaborative formats: in-person and online, locally and internationally.

The goal is to support dancers and choreographers in developing their own artistic expression by enabling international collaborations with self-chosen partners. The fellowship is not conceived as a project grant, it doesn’t require a piece development and has no age restrictions. It aims to adapt to the individual needs and interests of the applicants and to offer the freedom to design appropriate collaborative formats in the service of advancing their unique artistic signature.

The fellowship should take place in an individually designed format during a chosen period between September 5th, 2022 and August 31st, 2023. This year, applicants will also be able to choose between a full-time (21 hours/week or more) and a part-time fellowship (20 hours/week or less). Full-time grant-holders will receive a monthly scholarship of €2,500 and part-time €1,000 throughout their chosen period.

Dancers and choreographers are welcome to apply with a collaborative format from February 1st to March 31st, 2022. Fellows will be selected by an international jury and their decision will be announced shortly after the end of the application period.
