The Node Center for Curatorial Studies has announced an open call for submissions for its ‘Innovators Grant.’ Six recipients will work closely with members of the Node Team for two months to explore how art-thinking can be applied to education and learning. With a focus on creative activity, the Node Center defines art-thinking as “strategies of knowledge that question the everyday, using intuitive, creative and poetic approaches to find different access points or pathways to known topics.”

While the final product of the residency is not determined, the intention is to develop innovative strategies and communicate them in experimental formats – through manuals or guides. The team will work together, brainstorming, researching, and exploring possibilities, applying a creative trial and error method and hands-on application.

With a trans-disciplinary intent, the program seeks applicants with experience working in an education-related field, for instance pedagogy, neuroscience, psychology, etc. Applicants must either have experience in the arts or a desire to apply creative thought to their research focus.

The Node Center is an art organization whose work involves residencies, research, exhibitions, and online courses that aim to extend the possibilities of curatorial practice. Their activities are experimental and collaborative, aiming to rupture conventions and assumptions about curation and extend creativity beyond the work of art.

The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2015.

The residency will run for two months sometime between August 15, 2015 and October 30, 2015 (exact dates to be determined).

It will be free of charge and Node will provide each participant with 900€ to help with living expenses.

Accommodation will not be provided.
