Open Call for Emerging Artists // Migrant Birds Residency Program

Article by Julianne Cordray // May 29, 2016

Promoting the work of young, emerging Chinese artists, Berlin-based Migrant Birds Projects offers an ongoing, long-term residency program focused on facilitating cross-cultural communication between China and Europe. The space provides a platform for display and discussion of contemporary art and design through exhibitions and gallery talks, and offers artists support in developing professional connections with other artists, museums, curators, festivals, projects and more.

In line with its aim to foster extensive and productive interaction between the established cultura landscape of Berlin and the emergent contemporary art market in China, Migrant Birds organizes workshop exchange programs for German and Chinese artists. The workshop includes living, working, and open studio exhibition space in central Berlin, for Chinese artists, and in major cities in China, for German artists. Additional exhibition opportunities and sales support may also be provided if agreed upon in advance. The program will not only help to build relationships for young artists emerging in the field, but also Berlin-based institutions, galleries and curators interested in contemporary Chinese art.
