Article by Beatrix Joyce in Berlin // Friday, Jan. 06, 2017

The Max Planck Institutes of Molecular Plant Physiology and Colloids and Interfaces is now calling artists to take part in their artist-in-residence project Knowledge Link through Art and Science (KLAS). In June 2017, two artists will work side by side with researchers from Potsdam-Golm and the University of Groningen for four weeks at the Potsdam-Golm Science Park.

The topic selected is synthetic biology, a thriving field at the interface between molecular biology and engineering disciplines. With the fitting title of the project AESTHETICS get SYNTHETIC, the residency aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogues between science and art, and contribute to a wider understanding and appreciation of synthetic biology.

Artists working in the fields of visual art, interactive art, digital music/sound art, sculptural art, hybrid art, performance & choreography, architecture and photography and with a keen interest in interdisciplinary collaboration are invited to apply.
