On November 18th, the international reach of Berlin’s emerging art scene will be presented prominently in Saatchi Gallery’s first survey of German art, Gesamtkunstwerk: New Art from Germany. Artists from Berlin, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Bremen and Cologne will be exhibited. Fourteen of the twenty-four artists hail from Berlin.

The State of Berlin offering stipends for artists to work abroad

The list of destinations to apply for are located in various international countries including Asia, Europe and the U.S.A. Application for this unique creative opportuniy is open to artists in the fine arts, video or photography field.

TEA CIRCLE: For Ai Wei Wei

The international art world’s responce to the recent imprisonment of Chinese artist Ai Wei Wei has been strong. New York City’s Guggenheim has urged local museums to create a public petition for his freedom . The glass roof top of London’s Tate Modern reads “RELEASE AI WEI WEI” clearly, even from across the river. In Berlin the artists took to the streets. On Saturday, 9th April, they gathered outside the Chinese Embassy to make tea, not war.
