With Gallery Weekend at the beginning of this month and the upcoming 8th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art starting at the end of the month, ’tis the season for the city’s creative class to emerge from hibernation and give us sweeping displays of their annual harvest.
Berlin Design Week kicks off on Monday with a far-reaching program that brings together a wide array of the city’s designers, institutions and galleries, material distributors and makers.
Design Week is supported by the annual events DMY International Design Festival and Nightshift – The Berlin Design Night. One of the events showcased during the week, “Berlin Materials 2014 – Sustainable and Bio-Based Materials for Designers” aims to think about material cycles and resource-efficient modes of design, and will include a series of talks and an “Innovation Show” where materials will be exhibited at the HAUTE INNOVATION Circle.
Berlin Design Week will take place in dozens of venues across the city from May 26 – June 1. More information on the exact locations can be found below.
