unnamed

From March 8th to April 1st, Berlin Art Prize will be accepting applications for its 2015 award cycle. The prize seeks to celebrate contemporary art in Berlin by awarding three winners (Best Composition, Best Concept, Jury’s Choice) with a residency (the 2015 residencies will take place in Greece in collaboration with the Goethe Institute), prize money, and a trophy, as well as including 30 other nominees in the group exhibition and Berlin Art Prize catalogue.

Last year’s winners included Des Ptohograhpies for Best Concept with the humorous, nonsensical photo series Roche I-V, Ulu Braun‘s video piece, ‘Forst’, for Best Composition, and Jury’s Choice winner Okka-Esther Hungerbühler with ‘Blume’.

This year’s group exhibition will be hosted by DISTRICT Berlin from June 12th to July 4th, 2015. Artists will be evaluated anonymously by a jury of professionals, including artist and professor Monica Bonvicini, curator/writer Natasha Ginwala, curator/writer Elise Lammer, artist Kitty Kraus, and artist and professor Willem de Rooij. Nominees will be notified by May 1st, and winners will be awarded on June 12th, 2015.

The prize is available to any and all artists that have been living in Berlin for at least 6 months, regardless of their background, education, or previous artistic experience. Artists must submit a maximum of 5 works using ascribe or via email, and must also pay an administrative fee of 10 euros.

The deadline for applications is April 1st, 2015.
