Open Call for ‘Exploring Porcelain’ Artist Residency

Dec. 16, 2025

HfG Offenbach, together with the Höchster Porzellan-Manufaktur (HPM) and supported by the Crespo and Aventis Foundations, is inviting applications for RESIDENCY 5.0 – exploring porcelain. This international program offers artists and designers the chance to experiment with porcelain, pushing the limits of material, form and design.

The residency is open to postgraduate alumni of art colleges, academies or related institutions with strong experience in ceramics. Applicants are encouraged to combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary and experimental approaches, creating innovative work that engages with both history and the present.

Selected fellows will spend four months at HPM in Frankfurt-Höchst from April 15th to August 15th, 2026. Residents will have access to fully-equipped studios and workshops, working four to five days a week. The program provides a monthly stipend of €1,000, a residency apartment in Offenbach, a Deutschlandticket for public transport and financial support for materials, travel, exhibition and documentation.

HPM is Germany’s second-oldest porcelain manufactory, founded in 1746, now transformed into a space for research and experimentation. Residents can explore historic techniques alongside innovative processes such as ceramic 3D printing, robotic fabrication and digital surface finishing.

Applications open on December 1st and close on January 5th at midnight. Applicants are encouraged to submit materials early. RESIDENCY 5.0 offers a unique chance for ceramic artists and designers to experiment, collaborate and engage deeply with porcelain in a vibrant and inspiring environment.
