In a former brewery in Pfefferberg and tucked away from the hectic traffic of Schönhauserallee is Kink Bar & Restaurant, a spacious three room culinary laboratory boasting locally sourced ingredients and artfully crafted cocktails. In the summer, a sun-kissed courtyard terrace is open to guests, but there is never a shortage of light inside thanks to a skylight and generous two-storey windows. The bar, on the other hand, offers a subdued lounge atmosphere with its industrial décor and 100-metre winding neon light installation by Swiss artist Kerim Seiler. With dishes like asparagus sorbet or drinks that combine Talisker whiskey with tonka and Szechuan pepper, this one-of-a-kind venue opens a new perspective on old but loved classics.

As late summer approaches, there is nothing better than savouring the last of the balmy evenings. With pop-up series pars APERITIVO taking place every Thursday from August 18th until October 6th at Bar Cul de Sac, you can do just that. Coming from the founder of pars Pralinen, Kristiane Kegelmann, the series brings together friends from Berlin’s art and gastronomy scene to create unique, innovative evenings that centre decadent flavours with artistic flair. Kicking off the series is a collaboration with artist and chef Caique Tizzi, whose striking table settings will produce nothing short of a culinary oeuvre. Wine connoisseurs Holger Schwarz and Billy Wagner will pair their wines with pars’ sweet treats on August 25th and September 29th respectively, offering a delectable combination not to be missed.

Have you ever wondered what a work of art could taste like? You can find out at the Berlin classic Cookies Cream. Starting from the first dish, guests are treated to a palette of radiant colours and painterly shapes that, with each bite, transform into a vivid spectrum of taste. Each course is developed from regional products that are picked to the season. In the winter, you can sample the many ways food can be preserved and fermented, while in the summer freshly harvested vegetables are a staple of most dishes. But what makes this Michelin Star restaurant really unique is that there is no meat on the menu, which in this case does not mean a sacrifice in flavour. You will have to keep your eyes open though. Their location is easy to miss, but getting there is well worth the effort.

This vibrant spot in the heart of Kreuzberg serves classic and fusion recipes in a contemporary setting. Its owner Shani Ahiel first brought the dining experience of Tel Aviv to Berlin at the famed Yafo in Mitte. While Yafo is temporarily closed, Shishi (Hebrew for Friday) takes the spotlight with delectable Israeli-Mediterranean cuisine prepared with fresh organic produce from local farms. Skillfully combining traditional flavours with international influences, the menu boasts a variety of vegan, vegetarian, seafood and meat dishes. The charming vintage interior extends to a leafy bohemian courtyard, making it ideal for dinner and drinks after a long day of gallery visits or before a long night of partying.
