It’s summertime in Berlin and Fort Gorgast Festival is back for another weekend of camping, music, culture, and art this coming July! Hosted by The Reader and Slow Travel Berlin, the festival provides a perfect opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the city at Fort Gorgast, just one hour outside of Berlin. From artistic workshops, film screenings, and open mic sessions to morning yoga classes, author readings, and DJ sets, there is sure to be something for everyone, so bring your families and friends out to Fort Gorgast from July 23-26 for a weekend of summertime fun and relaxation.

The weekend will kick off on Thursday, July 23rd, with a map-making competition, a treasure hunt (winner wins a bottle of Jameson’s whiskey!), hula-hooping, barbecuing, scary story-telling and an eerie candlelit tour of Gorgast, acoustic performances, and s’mores around the campfire. The following days will begin with 10am “Yoga in the Meadow”, photography workshops with Slow Travel editor Paul Sullivan, writing workshops with Paul Scraton and Jane Flett, and will continue into the evenings with massages, fortune-telling, Berlin-themed pub quizzes, live music, and DJ sets to dance the night away. There will also be ongoing events for the family at the Kids Corner, sponsored by Curved House Kids.

The entire weekend will be catered with food from Prenzlauer Berg’s beloved The Dairy and drinks will be served at the festival’s very own bar, though visitors are, of course, welcome to bring their own snacks. The location offers a truly beautiful getaway for all festival-goers, but as with all camping experiences, visitors are urged to practice safety throughout the weekend. For more information about location, camping, ticket options, and the full programme, visit the festival’s website. Happy camping!
