The Artists in Residence Laboratory at CSW Ujazdowski Castle is an open platform which aims to support mobility of not only polish artists. They work on two main paths: invite foreign artists to join their program and realize their own artistic projects, based mostly on experimental, reflective explorations; take an active part in building web of shared experience and knowledge between art institutions from Eastern and Western Europe, in the project called “Re-tooling Residencies”. They also cooperate in the project of bilateral exchange, that allows polish artists to take part in artistic residencies abroad (co-working with dutch TRANSARTIST). Another A-I-R laboratory project is “Rooted Design for Routed Living”, based on research in design production and attempts to reflect on artistic residence, but in the context of space where artists live and work.
