This Weekend: STROKE – The Urban Art Fair

Blog entry by Monica Salazar // Thursday, October 13, 2011

Starting Friday, STROKE.ARTFAIR returns to Postbahnhof Berlin for it’s second year in the city. The fair presents a focus on designs of the everyday streetscape, with its graffiti, tags, tattoos, advertising and graphic design. STROKE’s aim is to find the substance behind these elements and to define the progression of contemporary art as it pertains to them. This year, the fair highlights the graffiti ‘tag’ as a significant aspect of the history of urban art.

Founded in 2009 by Munich-based gallery, Intoxicated Demons, STROKE.ARTFAIR continues to grow each year with more than 40,000 visitors having frequented the event in Berlin and Munich to date. This year, the fair will present artwork from over 30 European and South American galleries through classic fair landscape, as well as with live paintings, installations and murals within and outside of the Postbahnhof.
