On March 21th – 24th, BERLIN ART LINK will join the international art world at the 6th edition of Art Dubai; the regions leading fair which intersects the art scenes of the Middle East and South Asia. The fair attracted over 20, 000 visitors in 2011 with a curated program showing 74 galleries from 32 countries.

BALs presence at Art Dubai reinforces their commitment to representing emerging Berlin based artists in leading and developing art markets abroad and facilitating cultural exchange. BAL will be a key portal into the Berlin contemporary art scene by hosting a Media Desk at the fair where Director Monica Salazar will deliver information to visitors first hand about BAL services and the Berlin art scene. Ipads will be readily available to visitors to navigate their way through the BAL website, which is rapidly becoming a leading resource for art professionals, collectors, gallerists and tourists alike.

Core to BALs activities are documented studio visits and on display will be two video video versions of these with leading emerging artists Sara Rahbar (in her NY studio) and James Clar (in his Dubai studio), whom are popular artists and frequent exhibitors in the Middle East.

BAL is also pleased to present their video overview of the Future of a Promise exhibition; the largest Pan-Arab show of contemporary art at the 54th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia. Produced by Edge of Arabia and supported by Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives and Abraaj Capital. This landmark exhibition brought together more than twenty-five recent works and commissions by some of the foremost emerging artists from this region.

BAL Director Salazar says “The success of the Future of a Promise exhibition reinforces the region’s significant position as a emerging art market, and promotes the interesting and complex artists who are emerging from it at such a critical time for the Arab world”.

During the fair, BAL will also be collecting footage for an upcoming documentary they are producing about the developing contemporary art scene in Dubai and throughout the Middle East region. The documentary will subtly reflect the political changes in the region and capture its rapid growth over the last decade claiming its position as an international art hub.
