Following the recent trend of unique festival formats, ikono is presenting the first arts festival that will take place exclusively on television and via a live webstream. With a daily program of international video works by over 100 artists, including big names like Alfredo Jaar, Bill Viola and Anthony McCall, the festival will be available through HDTV channels ikonoTV and ikono MENASA, and on all mobile devices and computers. The “IRL” component will exist through public events and screenings throughout Berlin.
The festival program will feature four themed-sections including Time; dedicated to artists who respond to, reference and explore the complex and enigmatic element of time, (Un)Boxed; dedicated to works originally created for the medium of TV, (Re)Animate; which will focus on artists working with found and archival material, and Sublime; featuring works that evoke personal and emotive reaction through slow, non-narrative structures.
