Announcement // HoBo Mouse Contemporary Designer Film Screening

Article by Alice Bardos in Berlin // Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016

Over the years Berlinale has inspired many new pop-up events in the city, including this month’s edition of HoBo Mouse, which offers a short and sweet programme of films coming from Berlin’s product designer community. The 5th Hobo Mouse event takes place on February 25th at Soho House. What can you hope to see from the eclectic programme?

Bart Hess’ works blend together fashion, futuristic and digital notes, to produce onscreen alienesque forms, which are expected to add a uncanny element to HoBo Mouse. Lucy McRae‘s featured film Make Your Maker alludes to unsettling future connections between people and their food, through overly biological on-screen processes. Meanwhile, the multimedia artist Marguerite Humeau – formerly known for working with poisonous black mamba venom – often explores material and mechanical potential through a blending of dangerous and naive elements. Her works likely won’t shy away from the surreal, though let’s hope there won’t be a 4D version spraying any unwanted elements at unexpecting viewers. Other featured artists include Noam Toran and Niels Hoebers.

Not to worry if you miss out on the event, Hobo Mouse will hit Berlin again in April to coincide with Italy’s international furniture design festival Salone Del Mobile.
