Participate in Wroclaw’s 18th Media Art Biennale

July 29, 2018

The WRO Media Art Biennale is now accepting project submissions from artists to be featured in its next edition, to be held May 15–19, 2019 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Biennale focuses on presenting art that expresses current topics through technology as a medium. Last year’s event featured work from over 120 artists and was held at 17 different venues across Wroclaw with more than 100,000 visitors.

In 2019, the 19th WRO Media Art Biennale will focus on the theme ‘Human Aspect,’ dissecting the increasing capacities of technology and its human coexistence within vast networks, virtual relationships and artificial versus natural lives. It will question humanity’s extent of subjectivity in relation to technology and to what degree the human aspect is autonomous, unpredictable, faulty or creative.

Only works made after January 1, 2017 are eligible for submission to the WRO 2019 Biennale. The submitted works must apply the artistic potential of new media and must be downloadable in a digital form when submitted. The Biennale also includes talks and meetings of artists and scientists with the participating audience, oscillating in variable dynamics between both contemplation and consideration, experience and confrontation.
