Open Call for aquamediale 2023

June 8, 2022

Returning for it’s 15th edition, aquamediale will address the factors that influence our climate and examine the effects of an unrestrained consumer economy on man and nature. Taking place from June 3rd to September 30th, the festival for contemporary art will be located at the biosphere reserve around the Schlepzig region. The project calls on artists to propose artworks and installations presenting their own visions for future possibilities of dealing with nature.

The competition is open to both national and international artists, with no restrictions on specific materials or art genres. All prospective artistic interventions should interact with the site at the biosphere reserve, be adaptable to weather conditions and resistant for three months. Applications will be judged on whether they are able to depict the influence of people on nature, balance the values of society with the value found in nature, show the responsibility of the individual, encourage sustainable consumption and visualise what a life with nature might look like.

The construction of the installations will take place from March to May 2023, where on-site presence will be required. Artists will also be responsible for the dismantling of their installations in October 2023. Travel expenses will be reimbursed at 20 cents per kilometre travelled after consultation with the project leader and submission of receipts. Overnight stays will also be free of charge at the residence and in the workrooms of the Künstlerhaus ‘Eisenhammer.’

Submissions must be sent digitally using the provided application form and sent to info@kuenstlerhaus-eisenhammer.de. Selected and realised works will be rewarded with a total of 3000 Euros gross.
