Open Call: Outdoor Installations for Ice Age Centre Estonia

Mar. 21, 2023

Ice Age Centre is calling for projects of artists residing in Estonia, Norway, Austria and Germany to create an outdoor installation/mural for the façade of the Ice Age Centre building in Äksi, Estonia. The unveiling of the wall piece will be the first in a series of exhibitions, performances and workshops within the project ‘Look into my Ice’ organised by the Association for Estonian-German cultural and art exchange, as part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 programme.

The Ice Age Centre is an educational theme park located in Southern Estonia. Its exhibitions provide a broad overview of the origins of ice ages, the development of Estonian nature and climate change. ‘Look into my Ice’ aims to raise awareness towards climate processes, as well as to encourage a transdisciplinary exchange between art and science. The programme is carried out using environmentally friendly methods, including the sustainable management of transportation, travel, and production materials.

Ice Age Centre will cover travel and production costs, provide a residency stay, an artist fee of €3000, communication/PR within the context of Tartu 2024 and organise the release event at the end of August 2023. Applications should include examples of previous work or a portfolio, a sketch and description of the project, statement about the intended work, budget overview and a CV. The residency will take place between July to August 2023. Applications should be handed in as one pdf with all needed information or a shared cloud folder to: look@roam-projects.eu.
