In collaboration with hinterland, Sumac Space-Art Practices of the Middle East hosts an open call for artists, curators and researchers. Sumac Space seeks those who address contemporary urgencies in the context of the challenging socio-political circumstances to submit their work and projects for exhibition in Berlin and/or in Vienna. The exhibitions, which will inaugurate the first chapter of ‘Confluencing’, a series of 5-day exhibitions, take place at a venue in Neukölln and at hinterland in Vienna. They will start in July and continue throughout 2024.
Sumac Space believes in the power of art to reimagine and shape the past, present and future. They also advocate for the importance of having a public place for their research and diverse forms of expression and propose collaboration and the fostering of a sense of shared and collective ownership.
There are no restrictions based on medium, technique, nationality, age or experience. The selection will be made by a jury and the shortlist of exhibiting projects will be announced by June 30, 2024. Please note that financial support for production, travel, accommodation or shipping cannot be provided. However, Sumac Space is open to discussing and exploring potential resources for selected applicants who may require financial assistance to participate.
