Open Call for Between Bridges Residency

Between Bridges is starting a new biennial exhibition grant for visual artists. Founded by Wolfgang Tillmans, Between Bridges is a foundation and non-profit exhibition space committed to the arts, LGBT+ rights and anti-racism work.

Any professional individual visual artist, artist duos or small group working collaboratively in any discipline is eligible to apply unless enrolled at a university at the time of application. The first residency will take place from January to June 2023 and will be divided into a working phase and a 1-month exhibition or public presentation.

The residency includes the use of the facilities at Keithstraße 15 in Berlin Schöneberg on the ground floor of a residential building. Although the residency program is unable to provide living accommodations, the facilities (100 sqm) include a workshop/storage, office, small kitchen and bathroom. The residency includes a monthly stipend of € 1,000 and the opportunity for studio visits with arts professionals from the network of Between Bridges. For the exhibition, a production budget will be granted. The show will open at the end of April during Gallery Weekend Berlin, run for 5 weeks, and be promoted via Between Bridges’ distribution channels and documented on their website.

In order to apply, please submit an artistic CV with a portfolio (pdf file, max. 10 MB, max. 10 A4 pages, including CV), with, if applicable, links to moving images and/or sound works. The maximum page number is the same for group applications. The deadline for applications is November 20, 2022. The documents can be submitted in German or English to residency@betweenbridges.net Only digital applications will be accepted. The awarded artist(s) will be notified by December 12, 2022.
