This class, offered at The Public School Berlin, will explore the exchange in theoretical and cultural production between Los Angeles and Berlin during the last 100 years. Beginning with the exodus of Jewish intellectuals during WWII, and looking at the effect of the such exhile on the formation of the American avant garde, the first part of the class will seek to chart the influence of many German emigrants in Los Angeles.
